3-year-old among those injured in Lehigh Acres rollover crash

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A three-year-old child is one of two people who were injured in a rollover crash between two cars at the intersection of Columbus Blvd and Nimitz Blvd in Lehigh Acres.


The incident was reported to the Lehigh Acres Fire District at 7:53 PM on Sunday.



A three-year-old child was inside of the vehicle when it rolled over and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center as a trauma alert.


A man in his 40s was also taken to the hospital but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

A second vehicle involved in the crash sustained serious front-end damages and had its airbags deployed, but none of the occupants sustained injuries.


Debris could be seen scattered across Nimitz Blvd and in the grassy area to include contents from the inside of the red sedan.


The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.


One lane of Columbus Blvd southbound is shut down at this time.
