CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A man is dead after a motorcycle rear-ended a Jeep at the intersection of Del Prado Blvd and NE 3rd Ter in Cape Coral.
The Cape Coral Fire Department and Lee County EMS responded to the call at 11:17 PM on Friday night.
Paramedics pronounced the man who was riding the motorcycle dead.
A fragment of the Jeep appeared to have been lodged inside of the motorcyclist's head.

The bright red Jeep sustained heavy rear-end damages as a result of the crash, and the motorcycle was split into several parts and mangled across both directions of travel on Del Prado Blvd.
Another man had to be assessed by paramedics, but it is unknown if he was transported to the hospital.
The Cape Coral Police Department is investigating the crash and several witnesses could be seen writing statements on clipboards.
Both directions of Del Prado Blvd between NE 3rd Ter and NE 6th St are shut down.
