LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection to the double-fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of State Road 82 and Paula Ave S in Lehigh Acres on May 26th, 2024.
A 35-year-old Lehigh Acres woman was pronounced dead on the scene and a newly graduated 18-year-old girl from Lehigh Acres died at the hospital.
FHP stated in a press release on Friday that 34-year-old Jimmy Randall Roberts Jr. was arrested by troopers from the FHP's Traffic Homicide Unit shortly after being released from Gulf Coast Medical Center.
Troopers have since booked him at the Lee County Jail for the following criminal charges:
- Vehicular Homicide (2 counts)
- Reckless Driving with Serious Injuries
- Driving While License Suspended or Revoked (causing death)
- DWLSR - Habitual Traffic Offender
- Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm
His current mugshot has not yet been made available.
Roberts Jr. has been arrested four other times on felony charges in Lee County since 2018 to include out-of-county warrants and drug possession.
The FHP states that their investigation is still ongoing.
