UPDATE | 05.14.2024 — 11:56

New crash reports obtained by SWFL Uncensored details the schematics of the crash that occurred between Santa Barabara Blvd N and Jacaranda Pkwy W in north Cape Coral on Monday.

The accident was the result of a rear-end collision.

According to CCPD, the white sedan was traveling in front of the brown pickup truck going north on Santa Barbara Blvd, approaching Jacaranda Pkwy, at approximately 40 miles per hour.

The pickup truck was travelling behind the sedan in the same direction at approximately 30 miles per hour.

The white sedan then slowed down in front of the pickup truck to turn right on Jacaranda Pkwy while utilizing its turn signal.

The pickup truck failed to slow down with the flow of traffic, subsequently rear-ending the sedan.

As we reported previously, witnesses stated that they watched the driver of the pickup truck exit his vehicle before walking directly in front of it and collapsing face down.

First responders stated that the man was unconscious for several minutes after their arrival, but promptly woke up conscious and alert.

He was later transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center by LeeFlight helicopter with "complaints of lower extremities".

The CCPD states that the baby who was inside of the sedan at the time of the crash was properly secured in a child seat and sustained a bruise to the head.

The baby was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center as a precaution.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to CCPD reports.

The report also stated that the driver of the brown pickup truck was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, and that he was "inattentive" and following the white sedan too closely.

Firefighters on the scene of the initial collision had to call a second ambulance as they also suspected him of being under the influence of alcohol.

A blood alcohol test result was pending at the time of the report being filed.
