Three people dead after drowning incident in Olga

The LCSO has confirmed that three people have died after jumping into the Caloosahatchee River at the Franklin Lock on Saturday.


Lifesaving measures were performed on all three victims, who were in cardiac arrest when they were removed from the water.


All three victims were pronounced dead on the scene.


The LCSO said in an X post on Saturday that foul play is not suspected, and that the victims did not know how to swim.


The Franklin Lock Park will remain closed for the duration of the investigation.

OLGA, Fla. One person is dead, and two others were critically injured after a drowning incident at the Franklin Locks just off Palm Beach Blvd in Olga.


Multiple agencies responded from land, water, and air at 1:14 PM on Saturday.


Initial reports indicated that three people had entered the water and were last seen at around 12:45 PM.


After family members hadn't seen the three swimmers resurface, they called 911.

Marine and aviation assets were quickly called upon and dive teams were deployed to search for the missing swimmers.


At 1:34 PM, the first victim was recovered from the water in cardiac arrest.


The other two victims were recovered from the water shortly after.


SWFLUC crews on the scene could see firefighters performing CPR on one of the victims that was recovered from the water.


One person has been pronounced dead on the scene.


We are working to confirm the statuses of the other two victims involved in the incident.


The LCSO states that the Franklin Locks Park will be on lockout until further notice due to the incident.


SWFLUC is monitoring this developing story.
