FORT MYERS, Fla. — One person was injured after an SUV crashed head-on with a Lee County EMS ambulance on Daniels Pkwy just east of American Colony Blvd in south Fort Myers.
The crash was reported to Lee County EMS by Medic 11 at around 2:47 PM on Friday.
Initial reports indicate that the black SUV was traveling in the eastbound lanes when it went over the median and crashed head-on with the ambulance.
The ambulance was taking a patient to the hospital at the time of the crash.
Responders on the scene declared a “Level 1 Mass Casualty Incident” due to 5 people being involved in the crash.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
The paramedics involved in the crash were uninjured.
