Teen injured after vehicle crashes into house following police pursuit in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A teenager has been injured after a vehicle crashed into a house at 850 Superior St following a police pursuit just after 12 AM on Sunday.


The Fort Myers Fire Department and Lee County EMS responded to the crash at 12:17 AM on Sunday.


The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed they were in pursuit of a vehicle when it crashed into the home.


A 16-year-old who was inside of the home at the time of the crash suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.


Crews on the scene noted “extensive damages” to the home.


The FHP also confirmed that the driver of the crashed vehicle fled the scene.


K9 dogs and a helicopter could be seen actively searching for the suspect in the immediate vicinity of the home.


The FHP is investigating the incident.
